Tadanari Lee says he cannot wait to get his career in England off to a good start.

The Japanese international is thrilled by the task of leading Saints into the top flight and explained that he couldn’t turn down the chance to further his career by joining Nigel Adkins’ side.

“I want to do my best for this club as we all want it to go up to the Premier League, and I am so excited about trying my very best for this team,” he told Saints Player.

“It is easy to say, but the most important thing for me is to try and show on the pitch what I can do to all the supporters.

“I spoke to Yuki Abe who played for Leicester and it would be brilliant if I could have the same loving relationship with the supporters at Southampton that he had.
“It was very difficult for me to move here, because there were a lot of supporters in Hiroshima who supported me and to leave them behind is a big thing.

“At the same time, I am very excited about coming to England and pursuing my ambition of playing football.”
